Longing for the Good Old Days

Will the Summer ever end?
Oh, please, please, just tell me when
this long, hot Summer will end!

I miss those happy school days
with all my chums and dear friends.
I miss all those recess games
and the cold hot school lunches.

I haven't heard Miss Clifford
tell her stories of Morderd
in such an awfully long time

Now
how did he spend that dime
he found on the rest room floor?
Hope she tells the tale once more!

Those reading lessons were fun
I hope I can still do sums

I miss music hour and songs

I miss gym and exercises
Will this Summer never end?

Journey Through the Night

Sunset
draws me back home
to good food and coolness

from the backyard the mountain range
fades out.

Midnight
I hear traffic
on the night desert air

in my dreams I visit distant
places.

A beach
lined with palm trees,
cooling white waves and sand,
in the distance blue skies and waves

surf's up

The cat
pokes her cold nose
in my hair, begging food

in the kitchen bacon frying

breakfast.
