Sex Without Love

Why do we do it
Make love without loving while
Hooked tongues dance within our mouths

Unborn children remain
A cluster of stars
A universe we'll never travel

Why must we change into thieves
Eyes like books we'll never read
Voices rendered down to sighs
The hieroglyphs of lovers

There will be more like us
Who surrender to flesh and other
Poisons

Wars will be fought and lost
Or fought and won it
Doesn't matter

And the moon will still
Beckon men and women
Their hasty eyes forgetting
The stars
